Our Track Record – Waverley

Harworth’s flagship development in Rotherham – Waverley – is a transformation of the former Orgreave coal mining site into Yorkshire’s largest ever mixed-use development that will contribute £1 billion to the local economy as it continues to build out over the next 10 years.

Waverley is to provide a sustainable, mixed-use development of 3,890 new homes in addition to 2.1m sq ft of employment space at the iconic Advanced Manufacturing Park on the same site, which is currently home to World class employers including McLaren Automotive, Boeing, Rolls Royce and The University of Sheffield.

Since receiving outline planning consent in 2011, over 1,250 quality homes have been built and occupied at Waverley. This has created the birth of a new community and once fully built out, will see a bustling population of around 9,000 people living in a green and attractive lakeside development.

As part of the wider masterplan, Harworth also recently delivered a new primary school in partnership with Rotherham Borough Council. A new local centre is also to be developed on-site from 2022.
